PRODUCT+INFORMATION

All STORM watches, sunglasses and jewellery conform to European Standards for Nickel safety. They are anti-allergenic meaning anyone with a nickel allergy can safely wear our products. However, if any chemical such as fuel, alcohol, perfume or nail polish remover comes into contact with the watch, or dirt is not cleaned from the watch, it may cause a reaction with the skin or deterioration of the case or strap.

To ensure water resistance when swimming watches need a marking of 50m water resistance. 100m means you can also safely use diving boards or similar impact water sports. 200 metres means you can go Scuba diving. Watches without water resistant engraving on the caseback, should be protected from water and excessive amounts of moisture, steam and condensation to avoid damage.

All STORM water resistant watches are tested for the above activities, but also for low pressure activities such as cleaning the car, showering etc, which is in excess to that undertaken by similar fashion watch companies. We want to ensure there are no water/moisture problems with your watch. However, as with all water resistant watches, we recommend you have your watch serviced every two years or when the battery is replaced, in order to maintain the quality of the seals and the lubrication needed to ensure this. The water resistance of your watch is not permanent and will deteriorate through time.

Please Note: Water resistant watches must be re-sealed when opened for servicing to maintain the water resistance. Please ask for this service if required, as this work is not standard.

STORM uses either high quality Japanese or Swiss movements. They are not sealed, as some other watch brands use, so they can be replaced if there is a fault.

STORM watches may have various features such as a simple analogue time display with date or more complex features. A Multi model has a number of small dials on the face and displays the seconds, day and month. Other multi dial watches are chronographs, with a large hand acting as a stop watch function, but also usually have a date function. Other models feature dual time, the STORM Technolight (torchlight), tachymetre, compass, temperature gauge, and unusual features such as flip up covers, shutters and rotating cases. Instruction leaflets are supplied for watches with features.

The majority of STORM models are made from stainless steel. This is stronger and harder than brass, silver or gold so is hard wearing and long lasting. Different finishes are applied to the steel, to make it polished for instance, but it is not a coating that will wear off. Occasionally, however, models which are more intricate or have unusual features, may have to be made with a brass case, but any coatings used will be of sufficient quality to ensure long life. Models with brass case will be marked as such, but in most cases have solid stainless steel straps/bracelets. All STORM watches have stainless steel casebacks.

Silver is used for some items in the STORM jewellery range and is to 625 standards. Silver chains are rhodium plated.

Titanium is strong and very lightweight and is used in some watches, jewellery and eyeware.

Tungsten Carbide is a hard, heavy, steel-gray to white transition metal and is highly scratch and heat resistant. Note: the material is very brittle and can break if dropped or knocked.

STORM's gold range is made from 21k ion plating and is one of the most advanced surface finishing processes in the trade. In traditional processes, the gold coating on the surface of the case can be rubbed off easily. Ion plating makes the gold plating more durable, more wear resistant, and also has a higher brightness.

IP is a vacuum plating processing, in a totally vacuum condition, chemical substances are being added to the surfaces of the steel or any metal for slate, they use titanium carbon and for Rose Gold copper and gold. Ion plating makes the plating more durable, more wear resistant.

Ceramic is a high performance, highly scratch and heat resistant, hypoallergenic and lightweight material. Note: the material is brittle and can break if dropped or knocked.

This is used in some jewellery and watches. It is lightweight, resilient, tough, and is used for items such as riot shields. It will not discolour.

Kevlar is used for some watch straps. This is very strong and is used for bullet proof jackets, so it is tough.

Some watches with leather straps are marked 50m as the watch itself will not be damaged if worn in contact with water or worn when swimming. However, the strap is a natural material and will deteriorate over time when in contact with water. For swimming or for contact with water we would recommend a metal or rubber strap be worn.

Most STORM’s metal straps/ bracelets are made from Stainless Steel.

Any leather items such as rings should not make contact with water or worn when washing your hands as it is a natural material and will deteriorate over time.

Many of STORM's jewellery use real diamonds and are supplied with a certificate of authenticity, or are real gemstones.

Crystal glass in various colours is used for a number of items in the jewellery range and some watches.

STORM watches feature either flat or elevated mineral glass which is very thick and strong. Some models have sapphire glass.
